About Me:

 Hi friends,

I'm K. Wife to my amazing hubby & a home-school veteran who has been homeschooling my 2 kiddos for the past 6 1/2 years. I love the incredible memories that I am able to create with my kiddos each year and all the special moments we share every day while we learn and grow together. The past 6 years has taught me to slow down and savor each moment, to really relish each and every opportunity and take the time to appreciate the season I'm in and not try to hurry through it even if it may be difficult. Life has taught me that in those difficult seasons that is where I learn and grow the most because there are so many lessons to learn and glean from so its best to embrace it with a smile.

One of our favorite things as a family is to include travel or exploring nature into our school year as much as possible because we all love to travel, hike, getting out into nature & exploring new places. Some of our best learning moments have happened while we were out exploring. It allows for all of our senses to be alert and for us to become more in tune with nature. We love discovering new places, hidden gems and places off the beaten path. It is so thrilling for us to discover a new favorite place and to make special memories there as a family.

I also love to decorate, craft and do diy projects so you may see some of those floating around on here from time to time (perhaps it will be one of our school projects 😉).  You may also see info about organizing, planning and putting together events as I have become the decorator/planner for multiple events over the past few years and it is something that I love to do 😍😊

Thanks for joining me here, I'm so glad that you're along for the journey! I look forward to getting to know each other better and I'd love to read your comments so please message away with your thoughts, comments and questions!

~K

How to choose the right curriculum:

Lets chat curriculum options: First things first, I feel like it needs to be said that there is no perfect curriculum that will fit every child's needs. We've tried multiple curriculum's during our homeschooling years, the best advice I can give is to try some out and see which your kids respond to. Don’t be afraid to take your time learning which are the best fit, seek lots of advice from other friends and fellow homeschoolers as well as check out curriculum in person before you buy whenever possible because it is the best option to really know what you're purchasing. Also, it is important to know that there will be times you will have to chuck things that just don't work. They may not work for a lot of reasons such as: not fitting what you need or you and/or your kids may just hate it. Don’t fret or worry though as we’ve all been there and it's really not the end of the world, it will all work out! Take your time and try a few things out before you decide t...

This delicious recipe comes from my aunt J who is an incredible cook and loves to bake up yummy treats to share with family and friends. A few years ago I planned and hosted a surprise tea party for my grandmothers 85th birthday and of course a tea party wouldn't be complete without yummy food! My aunt happily baked up these amazing scones along with her exposition scones (recipe and more info about the tea party can be found on my instagram @thishomeschoolerslife.   ) for the party.  They are always a big hit & devoured quickly ;)  I knew I had to get her recipe to bake them with my kiddos  :)   Pumpkin Scones:  2 Cups Flour 7 Tablespoons Sugar 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder 1/2 teaspoon Salt 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon Cloves 1/4 teaspoon Ginger *Mix all the above ingredients & cut...
